Curtly Elconn Lynwall Ambrose K.C.N. ('Ambi')

Born:
September 21, 1963, in Swetes Village, Antigua.

Teams represented:
West Indies, Leeward Islands and Northamptonshire

Ambrose was an excellent fast bowler. He was always ready to back himself, especially when his team was in a difficult situation. The man whose enormous success came from his fitness, stamina and aggression made his first appearance for the West Indies versus Pakistan in the 1987/88 series. He went on to play 98 tests and captured 405 wickets at an average of 20.99.

Ambrose will always be remembered for his devastation of Australia at Sydney in 1992/93, and for the demolition of England during the Trinidad Test of the 1993/94 series. In 1992, 'Ambi' was voted Wisden's Cricketer of the Year.

Ambi’s smile says it all - the Sticky Wicket festivities were enjoyed by our honoured guests and their families
