H.
E. Courtney Andrew Walsh O.J., G.O.M. ('Cuddy')
October 30, 1962, in Kingston, Jamaica.
Jamaica, Gloucestershire, West Indies.
Walsh was once described
as the man who would wreck his body to help save
the face of West Indies cricket. He made his debut
for the West Indies in the 1984/85 series against
Australia in Perth and played his final test in
Jamaica during the 2000/2001 series against South
Africa.
Walsh bowled a whopping 5,004.1 overs in his phenomenal
career and set a world record of 519 test wickets.
As a batsman he will be long remembered for the
role he played in helping the West Indies clinch
victory against Pakistan at the Antigua Recreation
Grounds. In his final series, 'Cuddy' captured
25 wickets, the fifth time he had done so in his
career.
